Que retenir de cet article, en 1-2 phrases ?
This work focuses on optimal control strategies to reduce the cumulative number of infected and dead people. It considers controls applied over age groups, and the associated cost of control in practice.
Objectifs de l’étude / Questions abordées
How to model the transmission of SARS-COV-2 over an age-structured population and implement an efficient control strategy in order to reduce the number of infected individuals and deaths.
Méthode
The authors build a complex age-structured model, in which both age and time since the infection are considered, as well as asymptomatic people. They implement an optimal control strategy in order to limit the number of infected and dead people by applying a control over age groups. All results rely on numerical simulations.
Résultats principaux
The authors propose an efficient control strategy, that performs better than doing nothing (no surprise) or strongly controlling the young group.
Commentaire/brève évaluation
Very interesting work, easy to read, despite the complexity of the model. Everything is well referenced. It proposes an efficient and realistic control strategy to limit the increase of infected individuals and deaths in France.
